Section 63 of the Act became synonymous with the state’s war on UK rave culture, igniting resistance, protest, and a legacy of DIY rebellion that still reverberates through the underground. Now, over three decades on, with three UK nightclubs closing every week and the threat of total extinction by 2029 looming, photographer Yushy steps into the fray with Section 63: Underground & Unmastered – Documenting Underground London Raves — a bold and intimate photographic record of a scene refusing to be silenced. More than a document of rebellion, Section 63 is a tribute to community, resistance, and the enduring power of music to reclaim space. It stands as both a record of now and a reminder of what’s at stake if the underground is allowed to fade into history.
