A minute with Lucius
We caught up with long term purveyor of everything London from beyond the ages - Lucius Fierce.
Best spot you’ve hit lately?
"Stereo in Covent Garden. It’s by the Experimental Cocktail boys – sprawling space just south of Covent Garden Square. Its cavernous while being loft like at the same time. Very dark, moody and hits all the right notes – cocktails are totally on point, plus there’s a pool table for those who want to while away a few hours between day and night."
The last thing you ate and where that blew your mind?
"Din Tai Fung above The Arcade Food Hall at Centre Point by Soho is something to really enjoy. Especially if your guilty pleasure is dumplings – dumplings folded 18 times that is. Also The Tamil Crown just behind Angel station – happened upon this place on a Sunday – Indian food set in a pub, what you’ll enjoy is their interpretation of a Sunday lunch. Masala Roasted Chicken with potatoes and peas masala, coconut stir fried cabbage, mixed veg avial, gobi 65, roti, gravy – truly special."
Best member’s club to arrive to – at midnight?
"Without doubt - Maison Estelle. Mayfair’s most fiercely kept secret – ‘kept‘ purposefully that is. Set in a Georgian Grade I listed townhouse that dates back to 1772 on Grafton Street – from its bars to programme of events – everything, and I mean everything, is in just the right place."
Best place for a coffee?
"Coffee is a matter that is highly personal, but you’ll be hard pushed to find someone who doesn’t love Monmouth Street Coffee on Monmouth Street in Covent Garden. Grab and stay and grab and go – in this little sweet street – everything is slick and nothing’s impossible."
Your favourite cocktails and where to drink them?
"Keeping this one a little closer to home our Old Fashioned in Thirteen at Chateau Denmark is something to write home about – but as you won’t be checking out any time soon, ask the team to make it with bourbon."
